04 Mar And the winner of the Cocktail Showdown is…
The second annual Reykjavík Bar Summit’s cocktail presentations saw 16 bars competing in six categories of professional bartending. The judges evaluated the bartenders on technique (because of course & because “god is in the details”), a signature drink of the bar in question, a local drink of that country and an Icelandic local drink, concept and charisma.
The judges included Tom Zyankali, mixologist and bar chemist at Zyankali bar, Berlin, Philip Duff, Director of Liquid Solutions Bar & Beverage Consulting & Director of Education, Tales of the Cocktail, Lynnette Marrero, mixologist & owner and co-founder of Speed Rack, an all female bartending competition and Ásgeir Már Björnsson Bar Manager at Kitchen and Wine and co-founder of Reykjavik Bar Summit.
The judges did not have an easy task. The both competition days on Wednesday and Thursday saw drinks made and presented with love, passion and great entertainment, in the 15 minute timeframe given for each presentation. The final results were counted on Thursday and just moments ago the winner was revealed!
The winner of the Reykjavík Bar Summit 2016 Cocktail Competition is Finland’s A21!! The incredible runner ups were Holmens Kanal from Denmark and The Little Red Door from France. Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who participated: you were amazing!
